Commercial Walk in Cooler & Freezer Project

The Tioga County Homeless Initiative, an independent, community-driven organization, is launching an important new project to expand cold food storage capacity at our homeless shelter. This effort will directly improve the quality, consistency, and sustainability of the meals we provide to individuals and families in need.

We are currently planning the construction of a dedicated 16 ft by 40 ft cold storage facility designed to house commercial-grade refrigeration and freezer units. This space will allow us to safely store a significantly larger volume of perishable food, including fresh produce, dairy, meats, and prepared meals.

Right now, limited refrigeration capacity means we are sometimes unable to accept or properly store valuable food donations. With this expansion, we will be able to reduce food waste, strengthen partnerships with local food providers, and ensure that those we serve have reliable access to nutritious, fresh meals every day.

This project represents more than just a building. It is a long-term investment in dignity, health, and community resilience, made possible through local support rather than government operation.

We are actively seeking partnerships with local businesses, contractors, suppliers, and community organizations to help bring this vision to life. Opportunities for involvement include:

Donating building materials or construction services
Providing refrigeration equipment or electrical support
Offering financial contributions or sponsorships
Establishing ongoing food donation partnerships

By supporting this project, your business will play a direct role in addressing food insecurity in Tioga County while demonstrating a strong commitment to the local community.

Together, we can create a solution that not only meets an immediate need but also builds a stronger, more connected support system for those who need it most.

If you are interested in partnering with us or learning more, we would love to connect.
